Childcare Counts is the program that allowed family child care providers to remain open and encourage to get certified/licensed and increased group center teachers from $10.66 an hour to $13.66 while stabilizing tuition. Without state investment to replace these funds approximately 25% of child care businesses will close (more in rural areas where the need is already dire), tuition will increase by $29 or more (many are reporting $30-50 a week increases) in order to maintain the paltry wages.
