Climate change is real, and implementing sustainable policies and protecting our natural habitat are important to the health and well-being for our community.
TRUSTEE LYNN McDANIEL will share the work of the Village of Oregon Sustainability Committee in developing policies that promote sustainability and some of the programs they are offering to Village residents to participate in sustainable practices.
THERESA NELSON will share the story of how the Oregon Nature Alliance formed nearly six years ago to give people passionate about nature in our community a stronger voice. She will highlight ONA’s mission to protect and restore local ecosystems, provide opportunities for people to connect with nature, and educate the community about the importance of the natural world. Theresa will also showcase ONA’s S.H.A.R.E. program, which has helped residents plant more than 30 native gardens— including beautiful pollinator-friendly plantings at Village Hall— bringing both people and nature closer together.
We encourage attendees to bring nonperishable donations for the Oregon Area Food Pantry. SNAP recipients’ benefits ended on November 1, and area food pantries have seen an uptick in need among area residents. Please help sustain our neighbors.
Oregon Area Progressives invites area residents to join us on
Friday, November 7, from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Kickback Café.
